Jake Acker
Interview with Tony Parizo
1. Tell us a little about your background and how you got into the Restoration business.
“After growing up in the Upper Valley, I spent many years in the trades. I learned all sorts of trades from frame to finish. From the ceiling to the floor. At the beginning of my career, I was a professional drywall and painting contractor. In 2005, I stumbled across a newspaper ad for a "Construction Estimator.” At the time, I was not too familiar with the restoration industry. I started by preparing rebuild estimates for water and fire losses. From there, I learned about water damage restoration, mold remediation, and fire damage restoration. In 2006, I got my first restoration certification and it was then, that I became a student of the restoration industry. I learned how to manage an insurance claim for unexpected property damage.
I went on to own and operate my own emergency restoration company for several years, located here in the Upper Valley. Building the company from the ground up was very challenging yet rewarding. After selling the business and taking a brief hiatus, I find myself back in the saddle at RestorEAZE.”
2. What do you like most about the Restoration industry?
“The sense of accomplishment. To me, it is very rewarding to take a house damaged by mold, fire, or water, and restore it to a beautiful, healthy home. Many times, when others believe it is impossible.”
I love making my clients happy. I meet people in times of tragedy and many times, their largest investment has been compromised, damaged, or destroyed by water, mold, or fire. I enjoy walking them through the insurance claim and restoring their home. When RestorEAZE is finished with the restoration process, the home will be in better shape than before the damage happened.”
3. What are some of the most challenging aspects of your job?
"It can be physically demanding. Being prepared and ready to respond to emergencies on short notice can be challenging. Not knowing what or when the disaster will strike, helps us prepare for the worst and respond efficiently.
Sometimes the investigation can be challenging as well. We identify the cause and help fix the source so it doesn't happen again. At RestorEAZE, we are committed to correcting the source of the damage to ensure it does not happen again."
4. What do you like to do when you aren't working?
“In my free time, I enjoy boating, golfing, and spending time with my daughters. I enjoy attending live events, such as concerts, festivals, hockey games, and more. I like taking hikes, walks, and road trips. Traveling and seeing new places has always been a favorite of mine.”
